Cleanroom Rules

Training by LPS staff is required for authorization to use any item of the facility equipment.

SAFETY RULE REMINDERS
1. You may not work alone in the LPS clean room. You must always have a "buddy."
2. Regular hours of operation are from 6AM to 6PM weekdays.
3. The following activities are not allowed after regular working hours under any circumstances; wet chemistry, plasma processing (including RIE, PECVD, ICP, oxygen stripper), and e-beam evaporation.
4. Safety glasses are required at all times.
5. You are required to wear a pair of shoes inside your clean room boots at all times. Street shoes are not allowed; you must supply a pair of shoes dedicated to clean room service and store them in the gowning areas.
6. The occupancy limit is seven (7) users in the class 10 device processing clean room.
7. Proper personal protective equipment must be worn at all times.
8. Always label unmarked glassware used for chemical processing if you can not be in visual contact with the chemicals the entire time they are in use. Unmarked glassware with "mystery" chemicals are a general hazard and will not be tolerated. Given that everyone's safety is the highest priority at this facility, anyone caught violating this procedure risks losing their clean room privileges indefinitely.                                                                                                                                                                9. Malfunctioning or broken equipment must be reported to a member of the cleanroom staff as soon as possible. The sooner we know about the problem, the sooner we can have the tool repaired and back on-line.                                                               10. Do not use the cleanroom emergency exit doors as a communication/conversation point. If you need to contact someone in the cleanroom, use the intercom located near the cleanroom entrance or dial extension 6804.

EQUIPMENT USE REMINDER:
If you find that a piece of equipment in the clean room is broken or not working as expected you must inform a member of the clean room staff as soon as possible. This is not so that we can assign blame, but rather so that we can better assess the problem and get the problem fixed as soon as possible.

GENERAL CLEAN ROOM USE NOTES:
1. You must clean up after yourself when you are finished using the clean room(s). Think about what you have left undone before leaving the clean room because you'll probably not want to re-gown just for the housekeeping you forgot to do.
2. Please avoid the use of foot and body powders and heavy makeup on days that you know you will be working in the clean room. These powders present a contamination source that is difficult to remove and tends to spread to all of our clean room suit laundry.
3. There is now a wire shoe rack in the gowning area. Please put your shoes in the rack when you leave the clean room.

Thanks for your cooperation.
