Unit V: Your Project
Week 9 (2 April)
Preparation Guide
Your preparation this week is really for next. week. You should have completed
the following tasks for your semester project:
- Identified a topic for your project. This may grow out of your earlier work
in the course, but may be something completely different as well. A satisfactory
topic is not solely theoretical; that is, it will create an encounter with
some significant rhetorical artifact(s) that will inform your project.
- Developed a tentative research question or thesis for your work. This need
not be your final choice, but you should at least have explored the topic
sufficiently to understand your direction.
- Identified at least three studies from which
you will learn in doing your work. These should be studies that you wish to
emulate in some fashion. You also need to provide copies of one of these for
your classmates to read. Provide copies of the other two for the person who
will lead the discussion of your work.
- Be prepared to make a presentation to the
class of your work on your project to this point including discussion of what
you hope to emulate in the studies the class will read.
