Greetings and welcome to Dairy-L. As a new subscriber to Dairy-L we, the comoderators of Dairy-L would like you to know that Dairy-L may not operate like other lists you may have subscribed to. We also get a lot of people who are new to the Internet joining Dairy-L. This message contains a _STRONG RECOMMENDATION_ to do a couple things to get familiar with Dairy-L and the Listserv software. First, messages sent to Dairy-L must be signed with your name, e-mail address and general location (state or province in the US or Canada, and country elsewhere). If messages are not signed, the moderators will not distribute the messages, nor contact you. The responsibility rests on _YOU_. Dairy-L is a forum dedicated to providing factual information to its subscribers with a minimum of speculation, grandstanding, and pushing of a one sided agenda. All points of view are welcome, however, repeated pressuring on a point and flaming are undersirable aspects of some lists that we seek to minimize. This has resulted in the operation of a well respected source of information for the global dairy community. We suggest that you send an e-mail message according to the following instructions. Please read and save the files. They contain important instructions for Dairy-L. Also, please save the generic welcome message from the listserv software. That contains important instructions for using the listserv software commands. Please send an e-mail message to: listserv@listserv.umd.edu Put the following lines in the body of the message: GET ARCHIVE TXT GET NETTIQ TXT INDEX DAIRY-L You will be sent 3 files in 3 separate e-mail messages. The first file describes how to search the archives of past Dairy-L messages. The second file describes Dairy-L and emphasizes what is appropriate and what is not. The third file provides you with a list of all files stored in association with Dairy-L and it has a short description of each file. You can get any of those files just like you are getting the first two files above. Finally, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact either of us at our private e-mail addresses or phone numbers below. Welcome to Dairy-L, and enjoy this valuable resource.
