Action Plan
I definitely need to adjust my instruction to fit the unique and diverse needs of my students. Some of my students will need to relearn the material in different ways, some will need to maintain the same pace, and some will need to be accelerated. However, I want my groups to be heterogonous, meaning that I have LEP as well as non-LEP students in each group. I do not want to create a system of segregation where the two populations are kept separate and placed in tracks that will follow them for the rest of their academic careers. In the first group, who will need to relearn the material using diverse methods that accommodate multiple learning styles consists of students 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 13, 14, 15, 21, 22, 23, and 25. This is the largest group in the class, because they did not pass any of the indicators, or they only passed one. This group is made up of both students who speak English as a second language and those who speak English fluently. Some of these students performed well on one indicator, such as student 23 who was well beyond the goal for indicator 1, but as a whole they need to relearn the material. They will visit different stations related to each indicator depending on which indicators they need remedial help with. The second group will maintain the level of instruction that they have been receiving in the past and will consist of students 4, 8, 11, 18, 19, 20, and 23. Student 23 is classified as LEP. These students received passing scores on most or all of the indicators, but the scores could still improve a great deal. If they keep up with the pace of the class, they will steadily improve throughout the year and have a good chance of receiving passing scores at the end of the year assessment. The third group consists of students 5, 9, 12, 16, 17, and 24. Student 12 is classified as LEP, but despite the obstacles he must face with the English language has managed to succeed because of hard work. As you can see, he has exemplary scores for homework and attendance. The students in this group passed most or all of the indicators, and performed above and beyond the expected goal, receiving scores as high as 9.2. It is important to accelerate the instruction for these students so they do not become bored in the class and misbehave. These students need additional challenges which will be provided to them after they complete the assigned work.
