Renaissance Festival, Crownsville, MD

Saturday, October 4, 1997 was a beautiful Fall day and a group of us from work went to the Maryland Renaissance Festival for their Oktoberfest weekend and some of that delicious Bavarian beer (Pshorr). When you click on the small picture, you'll get a larger version.

The entrance of the festival grounds with King Henry VIII welcoming us and then some children performing Irish stepdancing.

Heidi rented an appropriate outfit to go with her daughters' hats (Katie and Sarah, husband Peter is wearing shades and standing in the background) I wore a vaguely Bavarian getup with knickers and a hat.

Shakespeare's Skum entertained us royally at the Globe Theatre with 20 minute adaptations (to say the least!) of Macbeth and later on, Henry the V ("5th not Vee!"). The troupe also put on their version of Jeopardy with audience participation requiring an in depth knowledge of Shakespeare's plays.

Many events kept us entertained including jousting...

...eating smoked turkey legs...shopping (Heidi & Donna)...

...and resting (Sarah)...ooolala, the snake lady! (with Katie & Donna)
