PLAYING MUSIC
I have been in school bands throughout elementary, middle and high school. In college I played in the SMCM (St. Mary's College of MD) Jazz Ensemble and in various student bands. During my freshman and sophmore years I played with a band called Todd Ebeling and the Blue Balls. We were a Rhythm & Blues cover band that played primarily to highly intoxicated students at local bars and school functions. We had anywhere from 10 to 15 members. At one point we not only a fun band, but also 1% of the SMCM student population (college pop. = 1,500 students). We were all good friends in the band so we couldn't kick anyone out, just add new members. Due to the band over-population we broke up in spring of '95. Out of the Blue Balls ashes two new bands were formed: Scooby Grove and Al Skapone and the Gangsters of Ska. I played in Al Skapone. Our repitoire was mostly originals and a few old school ska covers. We played mostly in local bars and at school functions, however our most recent gig and maybe our last was in Fredericksburg, VA.
I
primarily play the alto saxophone, however I have also played the
baritone and tenor on occasion. I also attempt to play the guitar,
bass guitar, piano, and banjo. (During some gigs I have been known to
pick up the trumpet and try to play a note).
The members of Al Skapone appear in the
